The Presbyterian Literary Society's meeting test evening was devoted to readings, recitations, and music. Readings and recitations were delivered respectively by Miss Sutherland (“ A Soliloquy in Church "), Mr Scott (“ Scene in the Russo-Turkish war"), Mr Ambridge (“ Speech of Sergeant Buzfuz "), Mr J. Johnston (" Mark Antony’s oration ”), and Mr Turnbull (" The Country Squire "). Songs were given by Mies Parnell ("Constance”), Mr Ratcliffe “ Best of All ” and " The Scout ”), Miss Adair (“ Living Dead "), Miss Warren ("Hearts and Homes”), and Mias Good (“Belle Mahons”). A pianoforte duet by Misses Evans and an instrumental trio by Messrs Davies, Ortpond and Parnell were also rendered-
