There was a fair attendance at the Theatre Royal last night to witness the Volunteer Race, which was run off in two laps, the distance being one mile (30 laps): For the first heat the competitors were Skipworth (scratch), Tucker (quarter-lap), P. Bullen (half-lap), and Porter (three-quarter). Tucker Very soon increased his lead of Skipworth, swinging easily with half a lap to spare, Skipworth being second. In the second heat there were only three entries—Hansen (gor), Langford (flap) and Lysnar (If lap). Langford won this heat, beating Hansen by half a length. The final heat between Langford and Tucker was wop by the former by a quarter of a length
