In the Supreme Court at Invercargill Mr Palmer, late Clerk in the RM. Court, sought to recover £3OO from Mr Fraser, editor of the Southern Standard, for libel contained in a newspaper article. The defence was that the comments on the plaintiff', conduct were fair and honest, and made in the interests of the public. A verdict was given for the defendant with ooets.
