Two Good Objects.
The members of the Fire Brigade are to he commended for their recognition of the bravery of others, it having been decided by the Brigade to hold a great turn out to-morrow evenng in honor of Sergeant Stagpoole, who so nobly risked his life in trying to save Mrs Kirk at T°lo§ a May, and who Succeeded in ‘at least saving one life' there. It is intended tp have ■ ■-—« until nine o'clncli, when the Humane rm»...„ ' bn nresented to Sergeant Society’s medai w... . _ ’ —"ntinued Stagpoole. Dancing will then oe v-. until eleven o’clock. The idea is a capital one, and we feel sure that the proposal will meet with great success. Apart from the public recognition of Sergeant Stagpoole’s bravery, the funds of the Brigade should meet with a substantial support, and Mr Townley has again generously offered the free use of his fine new hall for the worthy object. During the course of the evening the presentation will be made, and before the popular Sergeant leaves Gisborne for good we feel snre the public will take advantage of the only opportunity which has really been offered of demonstrating tbeir hearty approval of the Sergeant's gallant conduct.
