“ Outrigger " writes :—I thinkthe Gisborne Club did well in electing Mr Bourn captain tor the ensuing year. I should much likeHo see Mr Barnes take an active interest in the affairs of the Club, and it he did so, there would be no one more suitable for the position, but as matters were last season the handicap would be too great to again incur. One of ths best recommendations jn - favor of Mr Bourn is that he-is a continuous worker, and always to be relied on. It the members pull together (in both senses) and support their captain, I think I am safe in predicting for the Gisborne Club the moat successful season of any they have yet experienced. I do not know how the other Club will shape this season, but I believe they have sustained a blow this year through the loss of some of their best men. However, the Club has given proof that it cannot be lightly estimated under any circumstances,
