The Fatal Boat Accident.
The Kahu arrived nt Napier on Saturday morning, having put back on account of being shorthanded. Captain Bomerill states that at half-past two on Thursday afternoon the men left the steamer in a boat for the purpose of landing cargo. The distance to be traversed was not quite half a mile, and the sea was not extra rough, there being an occasional break in the channel where they were to land. The boat contained about a ton of cargo, comprising kerosene, potatoes, butter, &e. The boat had gone some distance when it swamped and capsized. The accident was observed from the steamer, but he was powerless to render any assistance. He saw McAlister land, and thought he also saw two men land. The Kahu carried thirteen hands in all, but those who left in the boat formed the best part of the crew.
