The Harbor Question.

A large and representative meeting of ratepayers was he’d last night in th* City Rink. Mr ’Andrew Graham occupied the chair, and briefly explained the nbjoct nf the meeting, which was for the purpose of appointing a committee to arrange details for conducting meetings, and secure the carrying of the W. L. File pro, posed and Mr W. Maude seconded the following resolution, which was carried unanimously We, the undersigned ratepayers in the Gisborne Harbor Board Special District, *do hereby memorialise the Board to proceed with the oocstructlou of the breakwater with the least possible delay, and we pledge ourselves, in the event of a poll being taken, to vote In favor of the same, and do our utmost to have the poll carried. (Signed by over 50 ratepayers.) Messrs Gannon, Townley, Hall, Crawford, Cannon, and File addressed the meeting, and urged that every effort should be made to carry the poll and continue the work The following committee was appointed : —Messrs Stubbs, H. E Johnston, Craig. Crawford, Maynard, Muir, Pollen, C mnon, Stevenson. Whinray, Graham, Ginnon, Aiair, Maude. Rosie. M. Hall, Coleman, South, P. H Bnurke, W. S. Greene, 0. D. Bennett, W. Morgan, File, DeLautour, T. Alams, Tucker, and Townley. Meeting* will be held at Ormond on Thursday, Patutahi on Friday, and Te Ayai on Saturday. Messrs Graham and Gannon undertook to attend the country meetings Messrs Ad-dr and Maude were appointed to present the memorial to the Board at its

meeting to-night. Mr Tilsley will canvas* for signatures at Kaiteratahi to-day. Messrs H»ll, Cannon Greene, Whinray, Maynard, and Adams wi-l ? take the country districts to-day; Mr O.
