The All Star Company.

The All Star Company opened last night iu McFarlane’s Hall for a season of two

nights, to a good house, the back seats being crowded. A lengthy programme was gone through during the evening, and everybody present voted the entertainment an excellent one. 3he proceedings opened with the usual Christy Minstrel business, the jokes being very good. This was followed by an overture by the company, which was greatly appreciated. Mr J. Lindsay sang a pretty ballad, and Mr Alf Lawton’s comic song brought down the house. Another comic song by Dave Gaduer succeeded in amusing everybody. Mr Grenville was loudly applauded for his beautiful lalad “My dear old Southern home,” and Miss Millie Herberte’s song evoked loud applause. A little absurdity, “Sims Reeves outdone,” by Mr Alf Lawton, br ught the first part of the programme to a close Afcer an interval Sy Ivo entertained the audience for some time, introducing new feats of equilibrium, for which he was brought back by the delighted audien e, and obliged to repeat his tricks. The oth-.r great feature of the performance was the feats of th* Donaldson Brothers, the contortionists. To look at them performing the spectat w would not think they had any joints iu their bodies at all. All their tricks are entirely new, and they created a feeling of extreme wonderment amongst the audience. Edwin Rogers gave some neat clogdancing, and was followed by a Dutch sketch by Mr Alf Lawton and Miss Clara Spencer. The singing of “ The Little Hero ” by Miss Millie Herberte, was greatly appreciated, while Dave Gardner’s comic stump speech and song convulsed the house. The two remaining items on the programme were a hornpipe by Miss Spencer, which was nicely executed, and a farce “ Love, Divorce, and Poison, ” brought the performance to a close, Messrs Linsday and Gardner, and Miss Herberte taking the characters, The company will appear this evening for the last time in Gisborne.
