CABLEGRAMS
London, No'-. 2-1. Truth recommends Queensland not to vote a Governor’s salary if Sir H. A. Blake is forced on the eolony against its will. The lucifer mateh makers have formed a Match Trust with the object of securing a monopoly like that enjoyed by the French match makers. The Daily Chronicle considers the request of the colonies to have the names of the Governors submitted before the appointment is made, reasonable. Tne colonies are entitled to the same consideration as foreign countries which are always consulted before ambassadors are appointed. It is understood that the Cabinet have agreed to allow bir H. A. Blake to resign, but decline to disclose the name of his successor privately to the Queensland Government. It is thought that at a later period they may be willing to consider the opinion of the colonies as to the appointment of Governors. The rumor as to Lord Carrington resigning the Governorship of New South Wales is re-affirmed.
