REFRACTORY ORES.
REPORT ON TREATMENT IN SAXONY METHODS NOT SUITABLE FOR AUSTRALIAN ORES. London, Dec. 1. Mr Robert Austen, F R.S , chemist and assayrr at the R *yal Mint, wh » recently accompanied Sir DU lon Bell and Sir S ul Ba*nuel to Freiburg, Saxony, for the purpose of inspecting the treat m<*nt of refractory ores as practised at the smelting works in that city, has forwarded his report to the Agents General. Mr Austen is of opinion that the methods adopted at Frieburg would not be suitable for the treatment of such ores in Australia.
