THE LOAN A TOTAL- FAILURE. Paris, Deo 15. The Panama Canal Company has suspended payment of interest, only one sixth of the new loan being subscribed. The news caused ths greates’. excitement, crowds surging round the offices of the Company and demanding to sec M. de Lesseps. M. de Lesseps considers that nothing now remains bus bankruptcy or to wind up the Company, It is stated that the liability of the Panama Canal scheme is a billion francs.
