Prosecuting the Salvation Army.
At Auckland on Friday last H. J. Rosa-, captain in the Salvation army was fined 5s and 7s 61 costa for obstructing a public thoroughfare. Inspector Broharn offered to withdraw the information if defendant would promise not to repeat the offence, but Ross would not promise, as he conceived he would then have to cease holding open air meetings. The fine was paid by the Mayor, Mr Devore. A telegram received yesterday states that a petition is being got up praying for a modification cf the by-law under which the Salvation Army conviction |?as obtained.
