Mr J. Allen met with a painful accident the other day, by which ue nearly lost the sight of one eye. The Pall Mall Gazette says a present of £25 has been sent to Miss Wiedemann, the plaintiff in the recent breach of promise action. The Otago Times says of the lost Professor Brown:—We known of no prominent man who during so brief a residence io this colony (eight years) has become in thought and feelihg more completely and thoroughly a New Zutender.
