The following business of interest to this district was transacted at the last meeting of the above :—
From Gisborne, suggesting the new room opposite the school be hire I for the use of secondary pupilr.—Agreed to. From same, asking for a grant of £lO for apparatus for teaching physics. The amount could be taken from the funis for secondary education.—Agreed to. From same, applying that the grant for repairs (£35) be remitted to the committee.— Approved. From same, in reference to the payment of Mr Haughey’s salary,—Salary could only bigin with duties being commenced. From same, asking that Miss Good be allowed another opportunity of passing her examination and be retained as pupil-teacher. —Approved. From Makauri, urging grant of £BO to be paid through site was not conveyed to the Board.—Grant of £lO for conveniences made. From same, asking that house allowance might be paid to Mr Bolton and Mrs Bolton be appointed sewing mistress.—Attendance did not warrant a mistress, house allowance granted as master had scoured a cectifioale. From Matawhero, recommending the appointment of Miss Green as fifth year pupilteacher.—Approved, From Maraetahi, applying for payment of grant to residence.—To be paid, From Patutahi, asking tor payment of their grant.—To be paid. From same, recommending Miss Mills as mistress, and forwarding resignation of John Watt, pupil-teacher.—Resignation accepted, and appointment confirmed. From Tologa Bay, asking permission to sell the old building, proceeds to be devoted to clearing the new site.—Approved.
