THE PRICE OF BREAD.
The Te Kooti affair has put all other matters in the background. It could scarcely, however, have passed our readers' attention that the price of flour has fallen considerably. It may be that the present moment is riot opportune, but as soon as matters are settled a little, would it not be advisable for the local bakers to consider whether their customers should not reap the advantage of the decreased price ? When the bakers raised the price of bread, we upheld their action because we knew that it was a matter of necessity. We had no doubt the bakers would lower the price again at the first opportunity We put it to them to consider whether the present is not a suitable time for that purpose. We are sure that if the price of flour will allow of it, we shall not ask in vain.
