Wairoa Notes.

Waiboa, last night. At the monthly meeting of the Wairoa County Council Mr H. J. Twigg was elected to represent Wairoa on the Board of Governors of the Napiar High School, vice Mr J. G. Kinross, resigned, A resolution was passed that the overseer lay off contracts on the Rotokakaranga road (between Ohinepaka and Cricklewood) to the extent of £l2l. A motion brought forward by Cr Glendenning, that the maintenance of County roads be let in sections, by application, tp reliable men at a salary of £i 15s per week, was carried by lout to three, an amendment by Cr Bee, that in future all County roads be maintained by day labor, being lost by one vo r e. The question of spending a sum of £5O on Maha’g%-Paritu road (Mahia district), was left over,pending the decision of Cook County Council as to what they intended to do on their portion of Mahia-Poverty Bay road, so that both Councils might act together in the ma’ter. The Ferry Hotel, North Clyde, has changed hands, Mr George Taylor, who iMires from tpe business being succeeded by MrOrerar, late of the Seventy Mile Bush.
