WANGANUI J.C. AUTUMN MEETING. SECOND DAY. The following information with regard to the Wanganui meeting is additional to that already published in the Standabe :— The attendance was about the same as yesterday, numbering about 2,500. The weather was delightful, and the racing excellent. The Derby resulted in one of the best finishes ever seen on the course, Manton, however winning rather easily at the finish. Time, 2min 44£eec, about the quickest on record. SECOND HANDICAP HUBBLES, Of 100 aovs; second horse to receive 10 sovs tram the stakes; about 2) miles. Mr D. Scott’s Ahns, 10.10, Scott 1 Mr E. M'Elwain's Oddfellow, 9.7 M'Taggart 2 Mr Bristol’s Maribyrnong, 9.0, Higgins 3 —Shillelagh, 10.0 ; Kangaroo, 10.0; and Jubilee, 810 also ran. Blue Gown, Bluebell, Mangaohane, Armourer, Germaine, Reputation, Bluebell, and Buapehu were scratched. At the start Oddfellow took the lead, with Kangaroo and Jubilee close up. At the stand Shillelagh swerved and jumped into the lawn enclosure, rather nastily hurting himself. Ahua was last, and lay in that posiiion for a considerable time. In the straight Maribyrnong still led, but Tommy Scott made a good effort, coming when at the bend, and won easily in the straight. Time, 4min 27eec. Dividends, £5 and £2 17a. WANGANUI STAKES HANDICAP. Of 200 sovs ; second horse to receive 25 sov« ont of stakes. For three-year-olds and upwards. Mr E. Cults* Dudu, 9.1, Matthews 1 Mr Beresford’s Leopold, 7.7, Lindsay 2 Mr Hill’s Strenuous, 8.2, M'Cormick 3 —Lady Norah, 9.0 ; Escutcheon, 8.0 ; Rufus, 6.9 ; Camomile, 7.0 ; Eclat, 6.7 ; Leander, 6.7; Prndence, 6.5; Paradox, 6.0 and Wanda 6.0 were scratched. Dudu bad the race in hand all the way, although she did not go to the front till half the distance had been travelled over. Leopold made the running for a lune, but when overhauled had no show in the straight, though the whip was out on him. Dudu was never asked to go, and won by a length easily. Dividend, £1 Ils.

Laths jumped away with the lead and maintained it for half the distance, when Omaha got on even terms with him, and a great race ensued up the etraight, Omaha having a slight advantage. When about a dosen lengths from home Bose Bonheur shot out unexpectedly from the outside, winning orally by two lengths. Time, Imin 19.ee. Dividends, £4 19s and £5 Is. Arrrxs handicap, Of 100 aovs; 1| miles. Mr T. Bristol’s Camomile, 7st 51b (Powell) 1 Mr W. Wilson's Eclat (Priest) ... 2 Mr W. T. Owen’s Leander, 6»t 101 b (Collelo 3 —Escutcheon (Bst 71b), Chudleigh (7st 71b), and Rufus (7st) also ran. Thia was one of the beet races of the day. Leander led the field for three parts of the distance, Eclat being hie immediate attendant. On pasting ths stand the first time the field waa in a cluster, but on going round ths back of the Bourse Camomile took up the running, and raced home with Eclat, the black bone winning by a length, Time, 2min 84eec. Dividend, £9 3a. handicap hack back, Of 20 sovs; t mile. Mr Kennedy's Cyclone, 7st 71b (Kennedy) 1 Mr Ogles’ Moira, Bst 71b 2 Mr M'Elwain’s Ngalre, 7st 3 —Eight other horse. started. Dividends, £3 8a and £3 19s. CnN-OLATION handicap. Mr W. T. Owen’s Leander, "st 21b ... 1 Mr Tancred’e Forester, 9>t 21b ... 2 Mr Bobbett’s Patchwork, 7st 3 —Ruapehu (7st 71b), Rufus (7st 2lb, Armourer ("st 71b), and Wanda (7st 71b) also started. The total amount put through the machine to the two days was £11,300, or nearly £3OOO more than last year.
