ENGLISH FINANCIERS INTERPOSE, London, March 11.
It is expected that English financiers will interpose to arrest the fall of copper below the basis of £5O per ton, by arranging for a reduction of the output. The copper syndicate is modifying existing contracts with a view to effecting sales gradually. March 12. Copper is now quoted at £53 per ton, and shows signs of rallying, some financiers having come to the rescue of the syndicate, and arranged with the mines for a suspension of the output for two months. It Is expected that this will have the effect of raising the minimum price to £67 per ton. Paris, March 11. The press insist that the Comptoir de Escompte should be re-organised, and that the new company should ooniinue business, exclusive of liability or guarantee to the copper syndicate, and thus ensure the repayment of deposits.
