TOLOGA BAY RACE MEETINGTips bt “ Chis Stbap.” Tolooa Bat, March 15. •The above annual race meetins takes place to-morrow (Saturday) on the same course as last rear, about three miles from the township of nawa. Everything possible has been done by the officer’s of the club to make the meeting a thorough success. Visitors are at present arriving from all parts of the coast—not omitting your own township—and the local “ pubs ” fully expect to reap a golden harvest. As there are a few horses entered for various events from your side of the river, with your permission I will venture a few •• tipi" for the edification of your numerous readers. The first event on the card is the—
HANDICAP HURDLE RACE. —There ere only three acceptors for this event which has somewhat robbed it of all interest. However I fancy, if the three face the starter, that they will go straight for the money, and that the little sticker Davy will wear down the big b’ack son of Bothwell • . the finish—that is if he finishes at all—as 1 am given to understand he would rather go round than over his jumps, and our brushwood fences will not suit him, theiefore I (hall place them thus— Davy g Darnley „ Waitangi —The next event that you have received acceptances for is the—flying stakes. Seven have cried content for this flatter, •ml if all so to the post it will be a very open ± Yom-representative Tit Bit has the reputation of being a flyer, but I am inclined to think that the steadier of 9st 41b,, comwith the state of our course—which by U?Ja7i.no? th? fastest in New Zealandwill have the effect of stopping him a trifle. The rest-bar Slynter-are a moderate lot, „d I am of opinion that when the numbers go up they will be— Tit Bit 1 Blynter a Three Legs .» CAWA STAKES HANDICAP. This is the race of the day, and will, if all weigh out, be the largest field, as eight awners have decided to have a “ cut in for the “ big money. ” Asa rule this is a good race, the local owners doing their utmost to eton the stakes being won by the visitors. Last year the money was won by a locallyowned horse, and I fancy the same will occur again this year, for whoever beats Davyfit and well, with 7st 61b in the saddle—wi 1 just about sonop the pool, therefore I will place them as follows— Davy 2 Blynter 3 Waitangi 3
