STUBBS JOHN TOWNLEY J. WHINBAY rpHE Company is formed for the purpose of acquiring from the present Holder (Mb J. A. Laing) the Copyright, Plant, Stock in Trade, Book Debts, and Goodwill of " THE GISBOBNE STANDARD ” Newspaper, and of continuing the Publication of the same, and also for oarrying on the business of Printers and Publishers in connection therewith. The marked success already secured by the GISBOBNE STANDARD as an exponent of public opinion, and the increasing support being accorded to it, are in themselves a guarantee of its future progress as a Company, In view of the favorable prospects of the East Coast, the continuance of that progress can scarcely be doubted. The present time the

Promoters believe to be particularly opportune for embarking in such an enterprise as is now placed before ths public. From all quarters, indications point unmistakeably to the fact that the East Coast, as well as the colony generally, is emerging from the long period of depression, and entering upon a new and prosperous era. In no part of the colony era the prospects more favorable than in this magnificent district. As an outlet for the produce of a large area of the best agricultural and pastoral lands in the colony, Gisborne, as the capital of the East Coast, stands unrivalled. Large areas of Crown and other lands are being taken up upon terms remarkably favorable to settlement, still further developing the district’s splendid resources. The increased price of wool and agricultural produce, the establishment of the frozen meat industry, combined with the excellent facilities shortly to be afforded for exporting the products of the district, all warrant the conclusion that we are rapidly approaching a period of permanent prosperity. To aid in promoting that prosperity; to represent and advocate the best interests of ths public, and the well-being of the community generally, would be the aim and object of the GISBOBNE STANDARD. Tbs Promoters feel assured that a journal conducted upon such a basis as they submit would be an engine of vast public good. THE POPULAR A 18-PRESSING gALOON. HAIB CUT FOB SXXnNOX! R.
