THE HUNGARIAN DIET.
DISGRACEFUL SCENES. SHOOTING—WOUNDING—RIOTING. London, March 21. An extraordinary scene occurred in the lobby of the Hungarian Diet. A student assaulted one of the members, who shot and wounded his assailant. A riot ensued which was suppressed by the military. There has been some severe rioting at Perth. M. Tisza, the Premier, and some other Members of the Ministry were assaulted in the streets, and the military had to be employed to quell the disturbances! There have been stormy scenes in the Diet. King Alexander of Servia, the youthful successor of King Milan, has requested his mother not to return to the country for the present. There has been a dreadful steam tramcar accident at Wigar through which twenty passengers were killed, and many more injured. The Duke of Cambridge has ridiculed Lord Wolseley’s proposal to recruit the army by conscription.
