Ormond School Committee.

A meeting of the above School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday the Ist inst, AU the members were present, Mr Skillicorn being in the chair. The late Secretary having declined to Undertake the duties again, it was proposed by Mr McKenzie and seconded by Mr Bruce that Mr Hatten be elected to the office.— Carried.

Mr Harper informed the Committee thet Mr Hill had visited the school on Tuesday last W,B everything excepting the attendance, which was not so good by 11 scholars as it was on Monday. Such irregularity he hoped would not be tolerated by the Committee, but that the compulsory clause of the Education Act would be put in operation unless an improvement took place. Mr Skillicorn said he would speak to Mr Hill on the matter, and find out how this vexed question is dealt with in other districts. The following amounts were passed for payment:—Mrs McKay, £2 12s 6d; Mr Adams, 14s; Mr Whinray, £3 7s 6d; Mr Hornberger, £lO Bs.

A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman and the meeting adjourned.
