WHAT CONSOLATION NOW?

Can anyone tell us what the South Pacific Petroleum Company are doing, or intend doing ? Can the “ Board of Consolation ” inform us when any work is going to be done to prove the well ? Shareholders thought when a Board of Consultation (save the mark) was appointed, the shareholders’ interests would be looked after ; no such thing. Two of the Board did go up and come down again, and gave a lengthy report of facts received from Mr Weaver by word of mouth, not facts they had ascertained for themselves. Is the Board of Consultation acquainted with the fact that Messrs Brown and Smaill are making a new rope socket ? What for ? Why, to fish up the tools now fast at the bottom. Why do not shareholders call a meeting at once, and enquire why work of some kind is not going on? Why, if Mr Weaver has so large an interest, and is so careful to look after the shareholders’ interests, is he not here working ? To us at a distance it appears as if the new blood imported into the Board of Directors runs just as sluggish as the old. Is the Board of Consultation for ornamental purposes, or for use ? Has the Sydney Board made any communication to them as to future work ? If so the shareholders have a right to know. If the Board of Consultation is a nonentity, then the sooner shareholders look after their own interests the better.
