THE FIRE BRIGADE DEMONSTRATION.

ALLOTMENT OF PRIZES. The proposed demonstration gains Interest in the public mind as tha time approaches for it to ooms off. A meeting of the Oom. mittee was held last night, when the in. tended allocation of prizes was made. It was hoped that the Hawke’s Bay men would have been in Gisborne in time to take part in the torchlight procession on Thursday night, but unless they can start earlier than they have arranged for the boat will not ba in time. There will of course ba a procession in any case, but the presence of the visitors would render it much more imposing. It ia intended if possible, to make arrangements for the visitors to attend the Hussars' Ball on Friday evening, whioh would ba a most suitable and enjoyable way of entertaining them. The prize list is as follows 1— First event—lst prize, clock (£5 ss); 2nd prize, £2. Second event—lst prize, £2O ; 2nd prize, £5 Third event—lst prize, £2 2s ; 2nd prize, clock, value £l. Fourth event—lst prize, £5 ; 2nd prize, £2. Fifth event—lst prize, £2O ; 2nd prize, £5. Sixth event—lst prize, £5 ; 2nd prize, clcck, value £2 2k. Seventh event—lst prize, £l5; 2nd prize, whip and £2 2s eash. Eighth event—lst prize, Cup ; 2nd prize, £9 2s; 3rd prize, £1 Is. The Hon Secretary and Treasurer of the Demonstration Committee (MrC. O. Luoae) will to-day call on those who have promieed subscriptions, for ths amount* set oppoeitu their names.
