ANOTHER DEFEAT FOR THE NEW ZEALANDERS. Melbourne, May 19. The Maori footballers played Ballarat on Friday, and were beaten by (four goals and three behinds to three behinds. On Saturday afternoon a splendid game of football was played between the Rover and Gisborne Clubs, the former being victorious by two points to nil. A football match will be played next Saturday (25th), in Captain Tuckers paddock between the Gisborne and Waimata Football Clubs. Great interest is taken in the forthcoming match, as the Waimata Olub can mus’er a good team, and an exciting game is anticipated. As this match only includes the Gisborne and Waimata Football Clubs, it is probab'e that a Maori team will play tbe Rovers and Turanganui combined on the same date.
