PETANE RACE MEETING.

The Petane Basing Club held their meeting on the Napier Park course on Friday last. The weather was all that could be desired, and there was a good attendance of tho gen. eral public. The totalieatore put through the eum of £2lBl during tho day. Appended are the results :—

The Takapuna Races came off on Friday last. About 3000 persona were on the course. The results of the principal events are as under ;—

Birthday Handicap : Laorina 1, Fusee 2, Signess 3. Audacity ran last. Hurdle Race : Recruit 1, Landseer 2, and Artist 3.

Handicap Steeplechase : Artist 1, Musen. ger 2, Don 8. In this race Pearson, wbo was riding Recruit, was thrown and severely bruised at the hurdle at which Edgacumba broke his epine in February last. Aooideata have been very frequent at this spot. Victoria Handicap : Fusee 1, Leoriua 2, Capella 8. In thia race Audacity ran very well but failed to get a place.

NAPIER PARK WINTEB MEETING. BIRTHDAY MEETINGS IN AUSTRALIA, At the Sydney Turf Club’s Mooting the Royal Park Stakes, of 500 Bovs, was won by Sedition, Wilberforce 2, Sophy 8. Thirty seven started, the larged fleld ever Men oq the Randwick course.

At the V. 8.0. Queen's Birthday Meeting tho Boyal Handicap, of 800 cove, six furlongs, resulted as follows :—Ginger 1, Sir William 2, Prattler 8, Time, 1 min. 161 sec. At the second day's racing of tho Adelaide Racing Club, the Cup was won by Stanley, Aldivallooh 2. Sluggard 3. Won easily, At the Queensland Turf Club’s Autumn Meeting, the Brisbane Cup was won by Quick* silver, Lsuriatina 2, Fairy 8. Wonlby a head after a grand race. ”
