In the State Nurseries of Victoria there are 73,000 trees which are intended for distribution in the dry districts of the colony, A message from Madras states that 100,000 persons are in need of relief in the Ganjam district.
The poll for tbe Christchurch North election resulted as follows:- E. W. Humphreys, 403; Joseph Ollivier, 371; Eden George, 184. Dampier Crossley has a number ot Southdown and merino lambs, which are about the earliott thia beason.
