Wellington Notes.
Wellington, last night. John D. Crabtree, the convict who attained celebrity by his prison breaking exploits in Wellington some two years ago, and who was transferred from Mount Eden gaol to the Avondale lunatic asylum some months back, is about to be released from custody, the balance of his sentence having been remitted by His Excellency the Governor. The country members held a meeting this morning to consider the bearing of the proposed legislation in regard to the election system upon their constituencies. Apparently Ministers ratherfunk " at the production of the correspondence between the Premier and Mr Fisher on tho subject of the latter’s retirement from the Ministry. I am informed, on good authority, that Mr Fisher’s letter, whioh was sent to the Premier on the 21st of May, was in typo in the Government Printing Office at least a fortnight ago. This was the last of the correspondence up to the present date.
