Water Boring.
By tho e,o. Rotomahana last night Mr 3. H. Stabba left for Dunedin, t-klng with him aomo tons of machinery with which to start his contract for water boring. We understand that ha has contracted to put down a wall, 1000 feet deep, at Burnside, on the NoW Zealand Refrigerating Company's property; The well is to be ten inches In diameter, and to adiplt of being tubed with an eight inch pipe. The contract for erecting tho derrick was sublet by Mrfltubba to a Dunedin firm, and they expect to have It finished by tho 30th inat, Messrs B own and Stnalll furnished the whole of the rig irons and sand reel, and it speaka well for them that a practical man like Mr Stubbs should prefer to have the articlee made here, and pay freight, then having them made in Dunedin- We understand that the rig irons are of a different pattern from any before in use in this district, tnd arc g decided improvement. The ceceasary roper and cables are being obtained from America and England, and the eight inch pipes art now on tbelr way out. This is the largest and deepest water well yet attempted b New Zealand,
