COUNTY COUNCIL.

It was agreed to authorise the Engineer to call tenders for 1000 yards of stone, Alternative prices to be given for hand and machine broken metal. The Chairman said that Do'.eman had promised to keep carts going on his maintenance contract on the main road between the town boundary and Makaraka, until all the repairs were made, but he had neglected to do so, He thought that the Engineer should be instructed to put three carts on and do what work was necessary; and that the amount should bo deducted from Doleman’s contract money. It was decided that notice should be given to Dolsman at once of the Council’s intention to put the teams on to make the repairs. Or Orr drew attention to the maintenance contract on the Waiapu inland road, which was being neglected by the contractor. In thia case also the Council decided to give notice to the contractor (Mr Pitcher) in almost the same terms.
