ADVERTISEMENT. JDBACTICAL CHRISTIANITY Published fob the Special Benefit of Non-Chcbcbgobbs. Tbub Christian Religion, intelligently under stood, comes not to add to men’s burdens, but to remove them. ” PorGod sent not His Son into the world to condemn tee world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John iii, 17. Its ceding doctrines, adapted to the use of his New Age, are summarised as follows There is one God, in whom is a Divine Trinity of Love, Wiadom and Operation, and he is the Lord Jesus Christ. Saying Faith is to believe in Him. Evils are to be shunned, because they are of the devil and from the devil, Good Works ought to be done, because they ate of God and from God, and they ought to ba done by man as of himself, but with the belief that they are from the Lord, operating in him by him. There are two things which constitute the essence of God—love and wisdom. And there are three which constitute the essence of Hie love—to love others out of Himself: to desire to be one with them: and to make them happy from Himself. The same three con atitute the essence of Hie wisdom ; because love and wisdom in God make one, and love wills these things, and wisdom accomplishes them, (True Christian Religion, No. 43.) The Word of God is Divine truth clothed |n human language, and adapted to the var J-d atates of the human heart, that thus a man may know God, and learn to know and do His will, ”If ye continue in My ward, then are ye my disciples indeed." John viii, 31 ■‘Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, do ye even so unto them : for this is the law and the prophets.” Matt, vii., 8. The Ten Commandments point out what evils are to be shunned in order that men mav attain eternal life. •' That it ia not so difficult to live the life of heaven as is commonly believed, is evident fcom this—that when anything presents itself that one knows to be insincere and unjust, to which his mind ia disposed, he need only think that it ought not to be done because it is contrary to the Divine commands. If a man accustoms himself so to think, and from custom derives the habi\he is then by degrees conjoined to heaven, and in so far as he U eon joined to heaven, the higher degrees of his mind are opened ; and in so far as these axe opened he sees what is insincere and unjust; and in so far as he sees these evils they ean be shaken off, for it is impossible that, any evil can be shaken off until it is seen. This is a state into which a man may enter from freedom ; for who is not capable of thinking tn this manner? But when he has made a beginning all goods are wrought in him bv the Lord, and He causes him not only to see evils, but also not to will them, and finally to become averse of them. Thia is meant hy the Lord s words, •’ My yoke ia easy and M . burden light,” Matt. xi. 30- But it shoulJ J known that ths difficulty of so thinking b ? likewise of resisting evils, increase in r 1 and w lor in so far he becomes accustom*'’ JJ* 1 ’ until at length he does not *7 < to them ,’ afterwards loves them, and fcoy ' of love excuses them, and > J ‘J 18 , . ael, B h ‘ fallacies confirms theai, and 4 *>• h* nds °f «n allowable and ec ares that they with those whom' , »“* ‘ hl « ° cours into evils as if - p ‘ 0 1 edolasence plunge the same titn. ,' Bl '-“ o'-it 0 '-it restraint, and at heart.'■—»•' te ) e j ' T) ivine things from the This Heaven an d Hell.” (No. 538) advertisemeo t, though containing >- a for all, ii especially published for the of those who from any cause do not profit by ordinary religious ministrations.
