Hospital Trustees.
The Hospital Trustees met last night. Present; Captain Tucker (in the chair), and Mosers Dunlop, Watson, Coleman, aud Lucas. Captain Tucker thanked the Board for electing him as permanent Chairman, especially ae it was done during hia absenoe from the meeting. The monthly report showed—remaining from last, 5 ; admitted 5 i deaths 2 | dis* charged 4 ; remaining 4. As there were only four patients in the Hospital it was deemed advisable to qousult the Matron with respect to the reduction of the staff. The Chairman enquired of Miss Holdgate whether she could see her way to do so without affecting the efficiency of the staff. The Matron replied saying that the proposed reduction could not well be made, as at any time an emergency might arise, and she could not depend upon replacing anyone by one who would be equally accustomed to the work. The matter then dropped. The Treasurer reported the receipts for the month amounted to £149 8a Bd, which left a credit balance in the Jjank of £lO3 7d, after paying all last month’s accounts. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr W. L Rees for his kindness in delivering a lecture on behalf of the Hospital. The Medical Officer reported that all the typhoid cases had been discharged. He Considered it was a matter of congratulation for the district that ao few patients were In the Hospital, which indicated the healthy state of both town and country, ' it was agreed to make two extra drains at a cost not exceeding £2. Messrs Lucas and Nolan were appointed a Viaicing Committee tor the montb, aud ths meeting adjourned.
