The Gisborne Basing Club.

A PROMISING COMMENCEMENT, Tax new Gisborne Racing Club last night held a general meeting at the Argyll Hotel. Mr W. Maude was in the chair, and the proceedings were most enthusiastic, there being over 40 members present out of a total of 52, a good proof of the efficient way in whioh Mr M. G. Nasmith, the temporary Secretary, had done his part of the work. The proposed bylaws were read and adopted after a general discussion relating thereto, Nearly a hundred pounds was, in the room, paid to the Secretary for subscriptions. The following Committee were elected Messrs D. Hepburn, J. Maynard, W. Maude, Q. Mitthewson, W. H. Tucker, A. Tuohy, E. F. Harris, A, McKenzie, T. J. Dlokaon, J, A, Harding, J. Thompson, and W, Adair. At a meeting of the Committee held immediately afterwards the following officers were appointed:—President, Mr W. Maude; Vice President, Mr J. Oarroll {Judge, Captain I Tucker ; Starter, Captain Winter ; Clerk of I Scales, Mr J. Maynard ; Clerk of Course. J Mr A. Pritchard; Secretary, Mr M.
