COUNTY COUNCIL.
The above met yesterday afternoon. Present : Councillors Coleman (In the chair), Orr, King, McPhail, Tuohy, Murphy, and Wethered. Mr Sandlant wrote directing (he Council's attention to the large boulders on the Whataupoko road, which required breaking.— Left over to the Engineer to attend to. Mr Walker wrote asking for a culvert to be made at Tologa Biy.—The Engineer explained that a drain had been cut some years ago, but the land had since been sold. —The request was net acceded to. Mr A. Brown wroke asking that tha old ferry road culverts be repaired.—The Engineer said the culvert was fairly good a short while ago.—The Engineer was Instructed to expend th* balance of native rates on the work. The Survey Department wrote >'« Williams' spur, stating that no road was necessary and that the land would not beao'd. The ranger reported haVTrg Impounded 52 horses, etc., within three weeks, Cr Murphy drew attention to the delay In giving O'Neil notice to stop the gravel contrast at Pakarae, Re asked by what authority the nvineys ot the Council were expended In that way t The Chairman explained that if the Engineer ordered any work and the Chairman approved of it th*t it was ganeraliy accepted by th* Council.' On the suggestieu of Cr Tuohy it was agreed that tenders should be’ called for the Murewai road, to be in by next meeting if possible. The following payments were passed H. McKay, £1 Is ; H.
