Many large buildings have been greatly damaged, and some small ones were completely wrecked. Two Salvationists, named Tom Nicholas and Mathew Brown, were flood 5« each with 37s costs, with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment for obstructing the, thoroughfare by assembling at the corner of a street and kneeling down and praying. The defendants elected to accept tne alternative. In fining the defendants, Mr Whitefoord said the streets were made for everybody ; it was never contemplated that a body of people should be allowed to constantly parade the streets with flags and bands, to the annoyance of the public. Dunedin, last night. The football match between the Auckland team and Otago resulted in a draw, each side scoring a goal. Auckland, last night. A Maori named Make Tremolo, 23 years of age, had his arm torn off at the Churchill flax mills, Raglan, and has since died. The steamer Alameda took to San Francisco on Monday £25,000 worth of gold, from Auckland, for the Bank of New Zealand in 'Frisco. The Alameda had also £350,000 worth from Sydney. Blenheim, laet night. Thomas Howton, trading under the name of Fell Bros, and Co., general merchants, filed a petition in bankruptcy yesterday. It is stated that almost the only creditor is the Bank of New Zealand, to the tune of nearly £lO,OOO.
