London, September 9. Twenty-seven bodies have now been recovered from the ruins of the Maurice Wood Colliery, near Edinburgh. The Rev. Mr Spurgeon’s health has become ?o undermined that much anxiety is felt on his behalf. Another woman has been murdered, and the body fearfully mutilated, in Whitechapel. Paris, September 9. Mr Gladstone, who has been to the Paris Exhibition, has been honored by a complimentary banquet in that city. Brussels, Sept. 9. The damage caused by the recent explosion of the cartridge factory at Antwerp is enormous. The excitement is now beginning to subside. Ottawa, September 9. Another attempt—this one a success—has been made to swim the Niagara Rapids. A man named Brodie undertook to accomplish the feat, and he swam across unhurt.
