ARRIVALS.
The Union steamer Southern Cross, from Auckland via way ports, reached hero at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Passengers: Messrs Fraser and Hewatt. The s.s. Australia arrived here from Wellington and Napier yesterday morning, bringing Mr and Mrs Thayer and family (6), Messrs Wilson, Koe, Malcolm, Gibbs, Towers, Chamberlain, Harris, Guppie, Lister, McLeod, and Dowling. The s,s. Fairy arrived from Thursday morning. The U.B.S. Co.’s steamer Wairarapa (Capt. Chatfield) made a splendid run of 24 hours from Auckland, arriving here at 13 15 yesterday. Passengers.- Mr and Mrs Hutchinson, Miss Boss, and Mr Marcroft.
DEPARTURES. The s.s. Southern Cross went on to Napier on Thursday evening, taking—Mr and Mrs McLeod, Mr and Mrs Banks and three children. The s.s. Australia proceeded on North yesterday morning, taking—Mr Gaineford. The schooner Waiapu (Captain Nicholas) sailed for Coastal ports and Auckland on Thursday afternoon. The steamer Fairy returned to Napier yesterday morning. She calls in at the Mahia to land about 13 tons cargo. The s.s. Wairarapa resumed her passage South last evening, taking—Mr and Mrs Holden, Sir James Prendergast, Major Porter, Messrs Cooper, S. M. Wilson, Ward, Brassey, Beere, Feary, Gibbs, Rolfe, one Constable and two prisoners.
