THE LATEST FROM THE HOUSE. [from qua own oobresfondint?.] Wellington, last night. In the Council on Saturday several bills passed through all stages, including the Property Tax Bill. In the House on Saturday the Property Tax Bill passed through all stages, after a long dissuasion, in Committee, on a motion by Mr Barron for reducing the tax frotp one Senny to three farthings, which was negatived y 30 to 18, the Premier declaring that if carried it would occasion a deficiency of £90,000. On the motion of Mr Larnaoh it was agreed, without division, to grant £2OOO to the daughters ot the late Mr James Maoandrew. Mr Ballance's motion for the early dissolution ot Parliament, occupied nearly the whole afternoon and evening sitting, and was lost by 35 to 30. When the result ot the division wee declared, the Government supporters led off with loud cheers, but the Opposition cheers were louder and more prolonged, which is not to ba wondered at seeing how dose was ths division. The Government expected a larger majority, but Messrs Goldie and Saunders walked into the Opposition lobby, thus making a difference of four. ' ’ In the House thia morning the supplementary estimates were passed, including a vote for the grant of £2OOO to the daughters of the late James Maoandrew, which wag carried on a division by 29 to 27.
