A committee meeting of the Gieborne Racing Club vraa held on Saturday afternoon. There were five tenders received for supplying and working the totaliaator at the race meetings to be held by the club in November and January next. The tender of Messrs Barry and Cooper, being the lowest, was accepted. The drawing up of the January programme was left over till a further meeting, but the dates were fixed for Tuesday and Wednesday, January 21sb and 22nd. The programme of the first mseting of tha Gieborne Racing Club is published this morning, tbs meeting being set down for November 11. As the Turf Olub has a meeting in October, and then both Clubs have eummer meetings, the oontinuoue work ought to be a great attraction for horse owners, allowing them, as it does, a complete season. They certainly have much reason to be pleased at the number of local meetings at which substantial prizes will be given. Messrs Graham, Pitt and Bennett offered some valuable blood stock at their usual sale on Saturday afternoon last, including th? brood mares Queen of Hearts and Mots Boss. AU were passed in, having failed to reach the reserve. Watty Black had Derringer in town oq Saturday Het. The little horse is looking well, and was greatly admired by numerous crowds of spectators. There is little doubt but that the son of Musket will have a full harem. The Hawkesbury Guineas, was won by Merriment, a three year old eon of Goldsborough, who is owned by Mr W. Gann,Xg Rudolph, the Hon. J. White’e colt, nlayi M second fiddle, a position I think Mr Whitt Ji horses will occupy a great many times during the coming seeson, for I do not think much ot either Rudolph or Biogapore. Dreadnought is about his best. Merriment' ie a clinker, for at Tattersall's races the other day he beat a field of twenty-eight over a 6 furlong course, and won with tho greatest of ease by four lengths in 1.15. The second bores was Sequel, who is owned by the Hon J. White. Merriment had 7,6 in the saddle, lyrlting on the Hawkesbury Guineas reminds one that Kingfish, by Piacatorious—Yet ferine', who won that event in 1886, won the Grandstand Plate at a race meeting in Queensland recently. This is about the only race of importance he has won during the last three years.—Buff end Black. An English farmer recently backed himself to ride a Berkshire boar four and a half miles in an hour, and beat Ums by ton minute?; •
