The Anglican Synod yesterday resolved to place a memorial tablet in the cathedral, to perpetuate the memnry of the missionary Rev, Carl Sylirus Volkner, murdered by Haubaus at Opotiki, in 1865. A Committee was appointed to rearrange the status of the Synod into the form of Canons, and a bill for tbat purpose was read a first tlmo, Tbe following bills wore read a second time and passed through committee ; A bill to amend Statute No. 1 to provide for the election ot Sy nod men ; a b;ll to emend Statute No. 2 for the election qf perish officers, and defining the duties of Otnmihi wardens and Vestrymen ; a bill to amend Statute No, 3 for the election ot nominators and appointment of pastors to perishes; a bill to amend Statute No, 4 tor onnetitatlng a standing committee; a bill to amend Statute No. 4 for the regulation ot the election ot clerical and lay representatives to tbe Genera! Synod ; a bill to amend Statute No, 6 for regulating the foundation of perishes; a bill providing for the constitution of a Cathedral Onspter.
