GISBORNE RACING CLUB’S SPRING MEETING. The following nominations were received at the Argyll Hotel last night by the Secretary —Mr M. G. Nasmith—for the above club’s Spring Meeting, which takes place on the Park Company’s new course on Monday, November lltb, 1889. There is one thing evident, and that is the club will have to considerably increase the amount of their stakes before they can expect entries from outside owners :— GRAND STAND HANDICAP. The above race meeting commences tomorrow, The town is full of visitors, and there is every likelihood of the meeting being well attended. Park Stakes—Whisper, Tirailleur, Renata, Tongariro, Kotuku, Thyme, The Laird, and Tit, Pony Race—Kapai, Grace, Celerity, New Chum, Dot and Kaihu. Sapling Stakes—Dreamland, Pearl Powder, Dryad, Legacy, Sleep, Arononel, and Sc, Moore, Hack Race—Akatea, Bronte, Burd Helen, Red Comyn, and Iks, Railway Handicap —Whisper, Tongariro, Lady Florin, Pretender, Cyclone, Strephon, Man Friday, Boulanger, Dauphine, and Waterbaby. Melbourne, Saturday. Bravo has advanced to 100 to 6 for tha Caulfield Cup. Daniel has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup, and Vera for the Caulfield Cup. The Hon. J. White’s horses, Abercorn, Rudolph, Singapore, Dreadnought, Utter and Prelude have arrived at Flemington. They have evidently undergone a very strong preparation. Carbine did a good mile and a-half gallop this morning.
