Good Suggestions.

[to the EDITOR.]

Sib,—As it is anticipated that during-tbe Exhibition season there will be a large number of visitors to New Zealand, and as the Union Steamship Co. in their consideration for the comfort and pleasure of their numerous passengers, have embellished their steamers, and as we may expect the steamers passing Gisborne will largely share in the passenger traffic, would it be too much to suggest to the Union Steamship Co. that they should endeavor to give the passengers every opportunity for landing and having s look at Gisborne and ths surrounding country as well as they do at other places f In order to do this, the Company should as far as possible change the day for calling at thia pdNfifand not always call here on Sundays, as there is little inducement for passengers to land in town* on Sundays, when every place i* closed up ; and not only to change the day, but also to give tbs passengers a few hours longer to see the beauties of our district. For we claim that there is no district in New Zealand wflere one oan take such pleasant drives as is the immediate neighbourhood of Gisborne, the historic ground of Captain Cook, ’ I ven. ture to make the above suggestion, hoping that you, with yoqr pen, will give it your powerful assistance, feeling sure that the travelling public will greatly appreciate a run ashore in our delightful district, I think the Company only requires the hint, when their usual courtesy will bring about the desirefl effect.— I am, Ac.,

Gisbobns.
