Southern Cross, from South, arrived in the Bay early yesterday morning, bringing—Mr and Mrs Lister and family, Inspector Posley, Messrs Myers, Williams, Bosch, acd Summer. The s.s. Hauroto came into the Bay at 12.80 yesterday, from Sydney via Auckland, bringing—Mesdames Adair, Budd, end Camp bell; Messrs Jenkins, Tibbett, Adair, Bro«n, Hare, Murphy, Hamilton, Roberts, and two natives. DEPARTURES. The schooner Gisborne sailed for Auckland, via coastal ports, on Thursday nigh'. The s.s. Fairy returned to Napier on Thursday morning. The s.s. Southern Cross went on North yesterday morning. The ss. Australia resumed her passage south shortly afier 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, taking—Messrs Compton, Evinson, and about twelve visitors to the races. The s.s. Hauroto went on South last night, taking—Mrs Todd and four children, Misses Adams and Hansen, Messrs Hunter, Davis, McCartney, DeLautour, Shaw, Brassey, Proffitt, Bpicer, Patney, and two Maoris. Post Chalx-kbs, Thursday, Arrived—Barque Clan McLeod, from New York. Spit, yesterday. Arrived—Fairy, at 1 a.m., from Gisborne. Wellington, Thursday. Sailed —B.M.S. lonic, at 430 p.m., for Plymouth, via Bio de Janeiro.

A mail bag was dropped into the sea last night while being shipped, but was recovered all right. Last evening the r.«. Ohau was to have left Napier for this port. She should therefore arrive here this morning, and after discharging cargo she will proceed North. The s.s. Rotomahana left Wellington at 6 o’clock last evening, for northern ports. She calls in at Napier to-day, and arrives here at daylight on Sunday morning. The Rotomahana’e departure for Auckland has been postponed till 9 a.m., owing to the steamer having a large cargo for thia port, ihcluding a consignment of cement for the harbor works.
