HARBOR BOARD.

A special meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening. Present: The Chairman, Dr Pollen, and Messrs Shelton, Sievwright Arthur, Townley, Bennett, and Chambers. The resolution in regard to striking a rate was confirmed, and the ordinary meeting was then held. THE BOARDS’ ENDOWMENT.

'The Committee appointed to draw up a report in regard to the Board’s endowment advised that advantage be taken of the Public Works Act, and the proposed conditions were drawn out, following the advice contained in Messrs O'Ryan and Dufaur’s report. Mr Chambers proposed the adoption? of the report so far as advising that the land be brought under the Works Act, and that the conditions proposed lie on the table for further consideration by members. Mr Sievwright seconded.

Mr Shelton moved, and Mr Bennett seconded, that the report be received, but only the two members voted for the amendment.

It was then agreed that a special meeting be held on the Sth November to carry out the recommendations of the meeting. PAYMENTS. The following accounts were passed :— Duty on cement, £325 0* 8d ; Lvttelton Times, £l3 12* ; Wharfinger, £l6 133 4d ; Harbor Master, £l6 13s 41; Weighbridge Keeper. £1; Secretary, £8 6a 83 ; petty cash, £5; H. E. Johnston, £1 9* 10d; A. R. Muir, £6 8* 93; wharfages, £4 3i 4d; Insurance Co., £3 15; clerical assistance, £2O; A. Ledger, £1 ;J. Mullane, £2 9s 2d ; P. McLoughlin, £ll la 83 ; G. Humphries, £9 13s; W. King, £2 14a ; Wingate, Burns and Co., £l4 19*; H. E. Johnston, £49 19s 93 ; wages account, £222 17s 93 ; Albion S.S. Co., £l. TENDERS. Three tenders for fascines were sent in after the time advertised, and it was resolved not to open them. The other tenders were— Oleen, £52 3s 4d ; P. Kane, £69 10s; Grady (accepted), £46 5s Bd.
