London, October 20. The Birmingham Gazette states that Lords Knutsfordand Hamilton have entrusted Earl Hopetoun. Governor-Elect of Victoria, with proposals for extending the naval partnership between England and Australia. Primarily the proposal will be submitted to the Victorian Parliament, and afterwards to the other Colonial Parliaments. After further consideration the London County Council rescinded their previous decision, and have now issued licenses for the Trocadero and Aquarium, but at the same
rime warned the managers to be cautious in 1 future. i The Prince of Wales will hold a review of 1 English and Egyptian troops in Cairo on Saturday next. October 21. The New Zealand 34 per cent. Conversion Loan is now quoted at a premium of per cent. The Tenanis’ League Convention will hold its meeting, which was postponed from the date originally fixed, at Thurles on the 28ih instant. The priests are ex ofllcio members of the League. Burns is now organising a Railway Employees’ Union. Severe gales have been experienced in the West of England. Athens, October 22, The atrocities of the Turkish soldiers in Crete still continue, and the Greek President protests against a Turkish envoy being allowed to attend the Duke of Sparta's wedding.
