A Frightful Accident.

(FROM OCB OWN OOBBEBPONPENT.) Invercargill, last night, A man naraod James Ladbrook was killed on Monday "afternoon st the New Zealand Pipe Company's hush'Mimtf'ay at Woodend. He was wording with three other then oh a small locomotive, when it left the ralla and capsized. The other men escaped with slight injuries, but Ladbrook fell against a log, and starting the bar of the engine it struck him in the mouth, penetrating his Ijegd so far as to almost I sever it from the body." At the inquest it was elicited that the men had so n,m>h work to do in the day and could go as soon as t)rey were done. The engine was therefore pilshefl on too rapidly and capsized in consequence, A verdict of accidental death was returned. Deceased leaves a'wUo three children.
