Mr Ballance in Napier.
HE POKES FUN AT THE NAPIER "LIBERALS.”
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Napieb, last night. Mr Ballance arrived by the train last night, his visit being in response to an invitation from the Liberals of Napier. He was received by about 50 or 60 persons, including Messrs Henry Williams, A. Cohen, H, Napthali, and J. Townsend.
Speaking on behalf of the Liberals of Napier, Mr Cohen offered Mr Ballance a hearty welcome, remarking that it was a great honor to have the privilege of welcoming such a distinguished man to Napier. Mr Ballance, in replying, said he was proud he received an invitation from the Liberals of Napier to address them, because that was the staunchest Liberal constituency in the whole colony, and Napier maintained the Liberal principles with enthusiasm peculiar to itself. Three cheers for Mr Ballance were heartily given and concluded the proceedings.
