Reception of the Irish Delegates.
A MSBTtXG of those parsons interested in the above movement was held in the Masonic Hotel on Tuesday eveninu. Amongst those present were: —Messrs W F. Crawford (Chairman), W. L. Rees, S. McLernon, Maguire, 8. Stevenson, M. J. Gannon, D. Crawford, M. Hogan, J. A. Harding, G, Mattheweon, J. Bradley, J. Whinrsy, E, P. Joyce, W. P. Finneran. J. Ponsford, P, McLoughlin, T. Sweet, W. Bowiey, G. Maher, J, Maher, B. Little, T. Corcoran, A, J. O'Neil, D. Dinan, S. R. Stewart, F, Jones, and M. Lynn. The Chairman explained the action the local committee had taken in the matter. He also referred to the courteous way in which the Union Company had met the committee. He then gave an outline of the proceedings which had been arranged. It was intended that a Reception Committee should be formed to meet Mr Dillon on his arrival at the wharf, and that an address of welcome should be presented by the Mayor who, be said, had kindly consented to do so, and had also agreed to take the chair at the meeting in the evening. Mr Dillon would then be taken for a drive round the country, going through the Pipiwhakao Bush, and returning to town by way of the Makauri and Whataupoko. On their return to town Mr Dillon would be banquetted at the Masonic hotel. The Chairman also stated that Messrs Garrett and McKee had given the Committee the Theatre for the night free of charge, The following gentlemen were appointed a Reception Committee:—The Mayor (Captain W. H. Tucker), W. L. Bees, W. F. Crawford, W. P. Finneran. H. J. Finn, W. Sievwright, E. P. Joyce; G. Matthewson, S. McLernon, P. McLoughlin, J. Bradley, J. Whinray, J. A. Harding, Maguire, S. Stevenson, M. J. Gannon, J. Carroll, M. Hogan, F. Jones, J. Ponsford, D. Crawford, D. Dinan, T. J. Dickson, A. J. O’Neil, W. Adair, and W. Parnell, with power to add to their number The gentlemen who accompany Mr Dilbn in the brake are :—The M .yer, Messrs W. L. Rees, M. J. Gannon, J, Carroll, M.H.R., W. F. Crawford, E. P. Joyce, W. P. Finneran, S. McLernon. W. Sievwright, F. J. Maguire, F. Jones, and S. Stevenson. It was agreed that Messrs Rees, Gannon, and Crawford, should go out ip the launch and meet Mr Dillon on the steamer. The Management Committee are Messrs Stevenson, Maguire, Stewart, McLernon, and Crawford. 4 subscription list was opened for defraying the expenses, and £l9 2b 6d was subscribed in the roam. The following is a copy of tfie proposed address :— FOR IBELAXP. wet practice last night. About 200 ft of hose was run out from the hydrant in Gladstone Road, and a water was thrown a distance of 39 yards through a linen nozzle. Superintendent Townley expressed bimself greatly pleased at the excellent way in which the engine and appliances were kept. Tar Brooke is recommended for a diphtheria Cure. The treatment ia to put a few drops of tar, like that used in shipyards, on a warm stove lid, and to require the patient to inba's apd swallow the smoke ten times a * or fly?. )l)fo>}tsil pack time.
