Soots Grey, n*xt th* rails, and Renats in theoentre, were quickest away, but before they had gone a turion* Alsace, who being *t the post, ran through and w*s at the head of affairs at Quits', Benat* next, and Scots Grey, Cyoisoa, and Peerswlck in that order. Nearing the mite post Renat* closed on the leader, while Peerswick moved up into third plane, just clear, Scots Grey and Cynisea bringing up the rear. Before another furlong Soots Grey had moved up to th* leaders and as the pace increased Alaaee and Renata fall back, Cynisea and Peerswiok at the same time closing on the favorite. Soots Grey was first into the straight, hut Qrnisfid wae at bis heels, and White had to' shake up the bolt, and the favorite strode away and going op wqn easily by four lengths frotp Cynisea, Peerswiok a length and a half away third, Alsace fourth, and Renata last, The winner, who was bred by Mr Thomae Morri*, ot Auoklend, was then led on to the lawn, and the blue riband pinned round hi* n**ll amidst loud cheering, Canterbury Cup, 600 sore.: Tirailleur, 1| Scots Grey, 2) Dudu,' 8.
