The Kaiapoi Strike.
A SETTLEMENT OF THE TROUBLE, JOHN CHINAMAN'S GENEROSITY, (FBOM OUB OWN OOBBEaPONDENT.) Chbistchubch, last night. Ths strike at the Ksiapo Clothing Factory has practically terminated, and work will in all probability be resumed on Monday. Io an interview yesterday brtween the Dirootori and the Committee of the Tailors' Union the difficulty about employing non-union hands was settled by all hands in the factory joining the Union, The Directors wish the Union to agree to the immediate appointment of ■ Board of Arbitration, but at the meeting ot the Union held subsequently, it was decided to let the matter remain in abeyance till a dispute arose, Sympathy was extended to the strikers even from the Chinese gardeners, who, learning the nature of the trouble, started a subeoriptioii and handed over £1 Os Cd, with a promise ot more if required.
